My everyday makeup (generically Kylie Jenner inspired)

I said in a video a while ago that I was a bit bored of doing Get Ready With Me videos.. I think that may have been an understatement. I was ridiculously bored with doing Get Ready With Me videos. Don't get me wrong, they're some of my favourite to watch, but I just felt all my looks were looking the same and I couldn't be bothered to go through the process of filming and editing them anymore. That being said, I decided to film my everyday makeup because that is something that I like to change up a bit through the time of year and I quite liked filming this one so I hope you enjoy watching it!

I hate to use the term but it's slightly Kylie Jenner inspired. Honestly, any time I use that phrase I want to slap myself over the head for being so goddamn generic but is there a better way to phrase it? Until there is, I'm damned to a life of following the flock of sheep in the farm that is the bloggersphere.. yeah I got metaphorical.

Kylie Jenner inspired

Casablanca and a nice MAC lipstick

Amongst my many hobbies, such as listening to music that most 18 year olds would immediately turn their nose up at because it's either not in the UK top 40 or the artists are much older than the age of 40, I am a keen film enthusiast. In order to be able to give yourself this title of film enthusiast, there are some trials you'll have to endure - one of which being, you've got to watch Casablanca.

Rick Blaine, played by Humphrey Bogart, famously says at the end of the film 'I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship', and after having a gander around Selfridges I can firmly say the same thing about MAC's lipstick in Taupe.

In the history of blogging, I'm not sure I've ever really come across a negative MAC lipstick review. I think it's partially the fact that you've spent an extortionate £15.50 on a lipstick, so you have some sort of obligation to say that it's good, but I think it's also that MAC just know how to do their lipsticks.

The packaging is sleek and classy, it's not in any need of an Instagram filter that's for sure. Plus it feels quite weighted, which isn't necessarily a pro or a con, it just feels well made and, dare I say it, #prestige.

In terms of the actual lipstick quality, it's long lasting and pigmented. It's matte but not in any way, shape, or form drying. Lip liners aren't required in this realm of lipstick pigmentation, but if you want to go full on Kylie Jenner, lip liner looks awesome with this stuff and just helps increase the longevity that much more. The shade is a cross between brown and rose, leaning more on the side of brown though making it the ultimate 90s lip.

I find it hard to fault this lipstick, and as I said earlier 'I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship'. Not just with this particular lipstick, but with MAC on the whole.

Here's looking at you kid - are you a fan of MAC?

February wishlist

It's February.. which means the end of my spending ban, huzzah! I've found it almost unbearable not being able to go shopping, which is strange because I only usually go proper shopping once a month but occasionally I'll pick up a bit or two which I couldn't do this month, but the commencing of February means the recommencing of spending, and over the past month I've been doing a lot of window shopping, but I managed to narrow it down into just a few things that I want.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

I've really gotten into dry shampoo over the past month, mostly because the intensity of A levels at the moment is high so I have less time to wash my hair, plus it's such a bother because I have longish afro-but-not-really hair, but the dry shampoo I've been using isn't an amazing one and I hear Batiste is the best, hence I want to try that - I've tried the rest, I want to try the best.

I know a lot of people wanted the beauty bloggers to leave the Kylie Jenner phase in 2014, but call me 2000-and-late because I'm still into it, and I'd really like to try out the Bourjois Rouge edition lipstick in Beige Trench because it looks like an inexpensive Jenner colour (I think one day I'll bite the bullet and get Velvet Teddy, but maybe when I have more money, y'know what I'm saying?)

The Maybelline Eraser Eye concealer is probably the most hyped about product in the bloggersphere at the moment, and as someone who carries around a lot of under eye luggage, I'm willing to try out anything. I know the shade range is limited, but I'd still like to give it a go given how good it looks.

For a long time, I never wanted to wear any sort of shirt or jumper that made me feel constricted, and I'm still a bit like that, but I would really like to start buy a roll neck because it's a step closer to turtle necks and polo necks, they just look pretty darn fabulous and obviously I'd have to get in black because *clears throat* I wear black on the outside 'cause black is how I feel on the inside*. This one is from eBay but I may have a look for something similar in Primark or Topshop (because I can actually go shopping now, and life is good)

I haven't worn jeans/trousers in about a year and a half, I wear skirts nearly every day which means that the few I have get a bit tatty and worn so I'd like to buy another one for my collection, and whilst the one in the picture is from eBay, I'm not opposed to buying it elsewhere, ya feel me?

What's on your wishlist this month?

The spending ban wishlist

I don't know about you, but after Christmas I was in serious need of a spending ban, so for the whole of January I'm not doing any shopping, this is also partially because I'm going to a concert at the end of the month (which I'm super excited for) that I need to pay for, so money is something I am lacking in right now - you feel me?

However, I still find myself pining after certain beauty items - it's tough reading review after review on certain products and not being able to buy them, so my solution is to create a wishlist so that I can either buy these products once my spending ban is up or I can buy any possible dupes of them (which I probably will do being the cheapskate thrifty spender that I am)

What kind of generic eighteen year old would I be if I didn't want MAC's Velvet Teddy? I've been very into brownish-pinky nudes at the moment, they've become somewhat of an everyday item, so it may be worth it to splash out and buy the MAC one. Although I have heard that Revlon do a dupe called Mauve It Over of it so it's quite possible I'll buy their version of it for half the price of MAC.

If you've watched any of my YouTube videos you'll know I have a lot of hair, and people with thick hair all seem to love the Tangle Teezer - now don't get me wrong I'd love to try it, but it bothers me how it's spelt 'Teezer'.. what's up with that? What's held me back from buying this is that at the end of the day, it's an expensive brush so I've found it hard  to make the purchase but I would eventually like to buy one and see if it's worth the hype.

I think one of the most hyped about products in the bloggersphere by far is the Benefit They're Real mascara and it looks really good from all of the reviews I've read, but nearly £20 for a mascara seems a bit ridiculous so I may buy a sample size or look around for a dupe.

The Real Techniques make up brushes are arguably the most popular make up brushes, which is why I feel somewhat ashamed to say that I don't even own one. I do own some really good make up brushes from eBay, but I hear so many good things about the Real Techniques ones that I'd like to try them, plus it would be nice to have more make up brushes so I don't have to wash my current ones as often (I'm lazy, chill)

Urban Decay have revolutionised the world of eye shadow with their Naked palettes, and whilst I don't want to dole out £37 on their Naked palettes (as you can buy £4 dupes from Makeup Revolution) I think their basics palettes are, whilst still expensive, a lot cheaper and more wearable shades, I think the Naked Basics 2 palette would be more wearable for me but both palettes have such nice neutral shades.

Have you tried any of these products?
Do you have any dupes for these products?

The £3 Kylie Jenner duo

There are two types of people in the world, those who want to look like Kylie Jenner, and those who pretend they don't*. Kylie Jenner has taken over the beauty beauty world by storm with Mac's Velvet Teddy and Mac's Whirl by her side, but looking like a Kardashian doesn't require emptying your wallet, in fact, you can do it for only £3.30.

I have reviewed a fair few products from Essence and made it abundantly clear that their offerings are totally worth the moolah, but I didn't realise that what they were offering was enough to imitate Kylie Jenner - I'll explain.

The Kylie Jenner look can be achieved using their lip liner in Satin Mauve, and their lipstick in Natural Beauty. The lip liner is ridiculously creamy and it quite possibly one of the nicest, and cheapest, lip liners I have ever tried. For only £1, you cannot go wrong. This is how you plump up your lips to Jenner size (don't go overboard on this homeboy)

Step two is to go over the top of the lipliner with their lipstick in Natural Beauty, which is allegedly a dupe of Mac's Brave (just saying), which makes the brownish-mauve lip a little bit more pink.

So if you're flicking through all of Kylie Jenner's photos on Instagram and taking a stab to your self esteem, worry no longer - we can all achieve the Jenner lips and not break the bank!

Review | Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm in Sultry

Despite the fact that I am an amateur in the world of beauty and I don't like to overcomplicate my daily makeup routine, I had never used a chubby stick before now and I think I really need to buy more as they're low maintenance and idiot-proof.

Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm in Sultry - £7.99
I bought the Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm in the shade Sultry because it looked like a nice everyday somewhat nude or your-lip-colour-but-better for darker skinned people like myself. Plus I don't really have any nude or everyday type lip products (except for lip gloss and lip balm) in my collection which is silly giving that they're a lot more suitable for sixth form, so when my Auntie kindly gave me a £20 voucher for Boots I decided to pick this up as there was a deal if you spent £9.99 at the Revlon counter you could get this for free, there was really no way I could avoid it.. right?

On the swatch, it appears to be a brownish type nude which is essentially what it is but it has hints of dusty pink in there too (a little bit Kylie Jenner) which makes it such a beautiful and versatile shade. I absolutely love it and it's a bit more vampy than your run-of-the-mill nude which I am aware sounds ridiculous but it really does look a bit vampy for a nude!

It glides on like an absolute dream, you would be surprised that it's a matte shade given that it feels so moisturising on application. It does dry matte but it isn't at all dying, however I did find that after a day of sixth form my lips were feeling a little bit dry, but the fact that it lasted me from about 7:30am to 16:00pm is pretty astonishing and honestly not what I was expecting!

Overall, I would definitely recommend this product and I am already fighting off the urge to dash back to Boots and buy some more from this range (and the other chubby sticks, I needs all the chubby sticks now).

What's your favourite chubby stick?

November Wishlist

November's always been a favourite month of mine, probably because it's my birthday, but this year is my 18th birthday which means joining the world of adulthood which is pretty scary but who ever said you can't buy your way out of an existential crisis with clothes and makeup? Right? So if you keep on reading, you'll see the things I hope to buy to distract me from the inevitability of death and all that jazz.

I have read many good reviews on Sleek as a brand in general, but I really want to try out their Contour kit, the one I've seen is in Medium but I hope it is dark enough for my skin tone, Sleek is generally pretty good at catering for the darker skinned people so hopefully it'll be okay (I'm hoping to channel my inner Kim Kardashian so the contouring is necessary)

I'd really like a new neutrals palette and I think this one from Barry M may fit the bill, or I'll try to find something similar. What I really want is the Naked Basics Palette but there's the small issue of money and not having enough of it, you catch my drift?

I would quite like a new dress that will suit me throughout the rest of Autumn and Winter, and also help me channel my inner Wednesday Adams, and I think this one from New Look will do. I actually wanted this last year (and I'm pretty certain I used it in a wishlist on my old blog!) and I was really upset when I couldn't find it in stores, so I'm glad they've brought it back and hopefully this year I'll find it or just cave and buy it online.

I'd really like to buy a nude lip of some sort as I too have been slightly in love with Kylie Jenner, and I think the Revlon Just Bitten ColourBurst Balm Stain in Honey will help be achieve that your-lip-colour-but-better look.

Lastly, I'd quite like a gingham top because I have no gingham in my wardrobe - Dorothy Gale would not be proud, and I think this top from New Look will be great for me as I don't wear a great deal of colour in my wardrobe - I am literally Wednesday Adams, seriously I wore my hair in plaits just like her for the majority of my life, I am not joking.

Thanks for reading, who knew I could talk about channelling Kim Kardashian, Wednesday Adams and Kylie Jenner all in one blog post? That, my friend, is something special.

What's on your wishlist for November?
